Use like + verb + ing to talk about things you  like / dislike now.

3B Can, could (ability)

Use can  for ability in the present. Use could for ability in the past.

-          Use an infinitive without to after can/could

-          We use  be able to to talk about ability, e.g. I was able to swim when I was four. However, this is less common than can / could.

3C Could  (Possibility)

Use could to talk about and ppast ability and present possibility

Ability in the past	I could read when I was three
Possibility in the present	We could go to the cinema tonight. We could play tennis.

3D going to (prediction)

Use  could to to prediction the future, based on things happened now.

MARY  IN YOKSHIRE

They arrived at a very large  old house. It looked dark and  unfriedly, they went straight upstairs, Mary was shown to a room, this is your room,' said Mrs Medlock. 'Go to bed when you've had some supper. And remember, you must tay in your room! Mr Craven doesn't want you to wander all over the house!'.

When Mary woke up the next morning, she saw a young servant girl cleaning the fireplace, she was Martha the servant, Mary doesn't like the moor, Martha's mother said people should be able to take care of themeselves, even if the're rich and important. Little Miss Mary was furious with Martha it's different in India where Mary come.

She  sounded kind and friendly, and Mary began to feel better and soon stopped crying, Martha gor eleven brothrers and sisters, her brother Dickon, he's always out on the moor, he's  twelve, and he's gor a horse witch he rides sometimes. he plays by himself  on the moors for hours, with the wild  birds, and the sheep, and the other animals.

Mary went downstairs and wandered throug the great  empty gardens, she saw an old man digging in on of the vegetable gardens, but he looked croos and unfriendy, Mary noticed a robin singing to her  from a tree on the other side of a wall, she went back to where the gardener was digging and spoke to him, there aren't any robins in the garden, the robin's a bit lonely. Ben Weatherstaff is the gardener and the robin is his only friend, the robin wanted to be Mary's friend. In the next feww days Mary spent almost all her time in the gardens
